Job security is important. Most of us thrive on the need to know that we have a steady, secure income that is going nowhere. That is one of the main fears when it comes to making a career change is that it might not work out, and the job security is gone. But we shouldn’t live our lives based on fear. You may have had thoughts about making a career change. Here are some of the signs that it may be time to do just that:
· Things Have Become Stagnant
Ask yourself if you are learning new things on a regular basis? Or if you are truly happy with the direction that your career is taking. Even ask yourself if you feel valued in the workplace. Answering no to these questions could mean that it’s time for change. Your career shouldn’t just be a job. With the amount of time you spend there it needs to be an enjoyable, rewarding experience.
· You Feel Increasingly Negative
A good sign that you aren’t enjoying what you do is the increase of negative thoughts. If you find yourself waking up in the morning and desperately not wanting to go to work then why not look at making a career change? In order to become more positive, you may have to do just that.
· You Find Yourself Going Nowhere
It could happen over time, or it come to you in an instant. But if you find yourself asking if this is as good as it gets, then you may have to make a change. Feeling trapped in a career is a horrible situation. Especially when the only way out can lead to uncertainty. But always remember that previous feeling, as that is the thing you are moving away from.
· Making a Career Change: Health
This can be either mental or physical health. But if stress from a job is taking such a toll on you then you need to get out. Work should be an enjoyable experience, not a stressful, harmful one. Often having a change in career can lead to a more positive, healthier outlook on life.
· There’s No Room for Improvement
People need the ability to advance in their career. It is what keeps us motivated. If you have been somewhere for an extended period of time and it looks like you won’t be advancing any time soon then it may be time for change. Look for jobs at different companies that offer more responsibility. And go for them.
